Сметана е хранителен продукт, получен от нехомогенизирано мляко с високо съдържание на мазнини. Тя обикновено се отделя на повърхността на съда, тъй като мазнините в нея са по-леки от водата в млякото. От сметана може да се произведе краве масло. Сметаната се използва най-вече при приготвянето на ястия и в сладкарството.
